Is brake burst?
IS BRAKE Burst? We can view frequently about the accident news like given below:
"Brakes of public bus had been burst and 3 people died" and the drived said: "My brakes were burst."
"Parked TIR slided down and 5 vehicles were destroyed." And the driver said: "Hand brake had been mulfunctioned."
As a result, everybody thinks and asks "Does brake burst instantly like tyres?"
Today tyres can not be explode unless large cracked. Tubeless tyres can not instantly burst with nails, they loose pressure slowly according to the size of the crack. A lastly developed system also warns the driver in the gauges. The sitiuation related with the brakes are similar to this. There exists at least one spare system for stopping the vehicle due a failure or brakdown in the brake system.
Since the 71/320/EU brake regulation had been accepted and entered into implementation in European Union, by the beginning of 70's the manufactured vehicles have two phase main brake system and also a hand braking system makes gradually stopping of the vehicle. In a pneumatic or hydraulic system, one of the brake system may malfunction because of failure but the driver can stop the vehicle by using the second one by pressing the brake pedal utmost after highlight of remark (!) in gauges.
Altough two systems may be in failure, the driver can stop the vehicle by hand brakes. Brakes do not burst in this most bad case in two phase braking systems. However the lack of maintenance, high warm up of brakes due wrong utilisation and high speed causes mulfunctioning of the brakes or less effectivity. |
